The PADI Adaptive Techniques course is designed for divers who want to learn how to assist individuals with physical or mental challenges in scuba diving. You’ll gain the knowledge and skills to help others enjoy the world of diving safely and comfortably.
Over 2 days and 2 dives you’ll learn how to work with divers who have various abilities and help them take part in diving activities — guided by a PADI-certified instructor with a maximum of 2 students. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to become proficient in helping others overcome challenges when diving.

What you’ll learn
Adapting Skills & Equipment
Modify your approach to scuba diving for a safe, enjoyable experience, and adapt diving equipment — customized gear, specialized tanks and tools that help adaptive divers control buoyancy, equalize and manage their dive safely.
Communication & Assisting
Use alternative methods of communication so adaptive divers feel comfortable, informed and safe, and gain hands-on techniques for assisting with entry and exit, buoyancy control and underwater movement.
Psychological & Physical Considerations
Understand the mental and emotional factors that may affect adaptive divers — whether they have mobility challenges, visual impairments or other conditions — and how to adjust your approach to their needs.
