Explore the Red Sea’s Most Iconic Dive Sites
Explore Sharm El Sheikh’s most famous dive sites with detailed guides covering depth, marine life, currents, visibility, difficulty, and what makes each site unique.
A world-class diving destination
Sharm El Sheikh is famous for its exceptional marine biodiversity, vibrant coral reefs and crystal-clear waters. From shallow coral gardens to dramatic drop-offs, drift dives and legendary wrecks, there’s a site for every level — with hard and soft corals, clouds of reef fish, pelagics, and seasonal turtles, dolphins and sharks.
Ras Mohammed National Park
South of Sharm El Sheikh, this protected national park holds 9 unique dive sites. The coastline is raw and undeveloped — steep walls, coral gardens, sandy plateaus and canyons. Nutrient-rich waters and strong currents draw abundant marine life, including schools of fish, barracuda, tuna and seasonal shark sightings, with world-class visibility and healthy coral.
Straits of Tiran
At the entrance to the Gulf of Aqaba, north-east of Sharm, the world-renowned Straits of Tiran run between Tiran Island and the Sinai Peninsula. Four main reef systems offer drop-offs, plateaus, drift dives and coral gardens — surrounded by deep water and strong currents that attract large pelagics like barracuda, tuna and reef sharks.
Wreck Dive Sites
Sharm El Sheikh is famous not only for coral but for legendary wreck diving. These sunken vessels have become artificial reefs teeming with life — perfect for the wreck specialty course or advanced exploration dives.
The Local Dive Sites
Right off the coast, Sharm’s local sites offer easy access and incredible diving without long boat rides — ideal for beginners, refresher dives, training and relaxed recreational diving.
Dahab
About 90 km north of Sharm, Dahab is one of Egypt’s most beloved diving destinations. Once a Bedouin fishing village, it’s now a relaxed, bohemian town known for its atmosphere and world-class shore diving.
